Unequally yoked marriage: when only one of you believes
Growing when only one believes
Twenty-one days to stop convincing and start building.
21 days · 10 minutes a day · done together
Quick answer
Growing when only one believes is a 21-day journey of about 10 minutes a day to work together on one concrete area: unequally yoked marriage. Each day brings a short reflection, a guided conversation and a small practice. You start it when you need it, each at your own pace, and whoever starts it can invite their spouse to walk it together.
Who this journey is for
- Your spouse does not share your faith and the topic already creates tension.
- You have tried to convince and each attempt pushed them further away.
- You feel alone in your spiritual life inside your own home.
If none of this sounds like you, another journey probably fits better. The free assessment points to it in five minutes.
What you will learn
- To keep your practice without turning it into a silent reproach.
- To find the common ground, which is wider than it looks.
- To agree explicitly about the children.
- To stop organizing your marriage around a change you do not control.
What each day looks like
A short reading
About what is happening, without blaming either of you.
A guided conversation
One concrete question, with a way of asking it that does not end in a fight.
A practice
Something small to do that same day. This is the part that changes something.
At your pace, and together if you want
Each of you marks your own days. If you invite your spouse, you both see each other’s progress.
The daily content of each journey is written by the 3CORD pastoral team.

Two paths in one house
Honestly recognize how you experience the faith difference today. · 1 Corinthians 7:12-14
In the church at Corinth there were believers married to people who didn't share their faith. Some wondered whether they should separate to live a purer faith. Paul answers clearly: if the unbelieving spouse is willing to live with the believer, they shouldn't leave. And he explains why: the unbelieving spouse is sanctified through the believer, and the children are holy.
It's a surprising statement. Paul doesn't see the believer as contaminated by living with an unbeliever, but the reverse: the believer's presence brings a holy influence to the whole home. God is at work in that house, even if faith isn't shared.
This doesn't remove the difficulty. Living with someone who doesn't share the deepest part of your life can hurt. But it changes the perspective: your marriage isn't a mistake or an obstacle to your faith. It's the place God has put you, and where He wants to work.
Today you'll look honestly at how you live this difference. If you do it together, listen to each other respectfully. If the believer does it alone, let it be a space of sincerity before God.
To practice today
- Each of you briefly describe your relationship with faith today, without judging the other's.
- Each of you name a situation where the faith difference creates tension (Sundays, kids, money, decisions).
- If doing it together, each say one thing you respect about the other. If the believer does it alone, write it down to remember.
To talk about
- How do you feel about the faith difference between us?
- What would you like the other to understand about your position?
- Where do you see God at work in our home, even though we don't share faith?
To pray
Lord, You placed me in this marriage and You're at work in my home. Thank You for my spouse. Help me live my faith with love and look at my home with hope. Amen.

Frequently asked questions
How long is the Growing when only one believes journey?
21 days, at about 10 minutes a day. You can pause and pick it up again: progress counts completed days, not calendar days, so a break does not force you to start over.
Do we both have to do it at the same time?
No. Each of you keeps your own progress and can open whichever day you need. Whoever starts the journey can invite their spouse from the app; if they join, each sees the days the other has done. And if your spouse is not ready yet, you can walk it alone.
Do I need to pay to start?
No. Day 1 of every journey is always free. To keep going, the app has a 7-day free trial with no card, and if one spouse subscribes, the other has access too.
What if halfway through we realize we need professional help?
That is a good sign, not a failure of the journey. These journeys accompany and practice; they do not replace counseling or therapy. The healthy move is to do both.
